We're a group of people who spent years building tools for wedding photographers. Somewhere along the way, we fell in love with the problem on the other side of the table. We built Focal because finding the right photographer shouldn't be this hard, and we believe every couple deserves one who truly gets them.
That experience gives us something most matchmakers don't have: a real understanding of what makes a photographer truly right for a couple. Not just available. Not just affordable. Actually right.
How It Started
When Lachlan started looking for a photographer, he was surprised by how complicated it turned out to be. Great photographers were everywhere - but figuring out who was right for him, what they actually included, and whether their style matched what he had in mind took way more effort than it should have. That frustration became Focal.
We started as a marketplace to make it easier to browse and understand photographer packages. Over time, that evolved - we built websites, booking tools, and business systems to help photographers run better businesses, and spent years working closely with some of the best in the industry.
But we kept coming back to the couples. All that time on both sides of the equation gave us something rare: a real understanding of what makes a great match.
